The Archaeology Weekend - We are just in time! Two hours earlier pieces of deer meat were wrapped
in "Elephant Leaf" (like what you see here) and placed into a 3 to 4 foot deep pit. Hot Rocks were first
laid into the hole - then the wrapped meat - sand then fills the hole. Go away for two hours. Come
back, dig up the meat and eat. Completely done and moist. We surmise that this practice would allow
a person to go off and do other things without worrying about children or animals getting into it .
Plus a steady heat without worrying about maintaining a fire for two hours.
Oh, by the way the meat was excellent.
