WHITE
RABBIT PHOTOS POSTED - MMM HIKE TO TAKE PLACE |
WHITE RABBIT
was very much like a pseudo-Annual Trip for its brief timespan.
It contained similar events
and activities much like our week-long stay and boy did we take
the pictures! So many in fact that we
decided to devote the same number of presented photos as you would
find from one of our 7 day visits, 105.
Plus, let us not forget that PHASE II of RRS
DAMBUSTERS took place during this very same time. Combined
with WHITE
RABBIT and the two produce the greatest number of pics we've
set aside for any RRG venture.
Top that off with the fact that in the past the longest RRG trip
we've taken was 11 days. It was 1995
and the trip was called RRS:
IMPACT, she holds the record for longest stay and nowhere
near as many
photos. To the present, please review the RRS
DAMBUSTERS SAGA and then view RRS
WHITE RABBIT
MAD MOUNTAIN
MIKE and THE RED ELIXIR remains on schedule, will begin this
upcoming Friday (meeting
point at 6:00pm). At this time the projected long-range Weather
Forecast seems to be cooperating so we
should get the event off the ground this time out. We will be
sending out emails this week in conjunction
with the trip and we'll be taking any questions you might have
as well. Should be a very good time.
NOTE: A staple of any Red River Gorge
year, the Kid's Fishing Derby held on Indian Creek (near the New
Indian Creek Bridge). The field we stayed at for WHITE
RABBIT is used for sign-ups and just below the
Bridge is the main fishing area. Learn more CLICK

MAD
MOUNTAIN MIKE and THE RED ELIXIR IS NOW COMPLETE |
MAD
MOUNTAIN MIKE and THE RED ELIXIR, another adventure hike weekend
mixed with a nostalgic twist!
Our destination of the Right Fork of Chimney Top Creek takes us
back to the years 1987
& 1988 when we last
visited this area. I was most impressed by just how much Mike
could recall of those past ventures. Many of his
recollections jogged my own memory and I could confirm many of
the minute details such as the state of the
surroundings, the food that was brought, activities and even where
the tents where set up, it was an amazing
display of memory. Still our visit was about more than reliving
old history, we came to build a new experience
and in that we certainly succeeded. With just a few of us basically
living on a small Island surrounded by a
stream for the most part and at our backs ... an old trench which
once hosted a railroad track and the trains
with timber which ran upon them back in the early 20th Century.
The canopy of trees would not allow the
Sun to shine onto the site with much force so we were spared any
Solar-Beatdown. All in all, it was a great
weekend with great friends, no phones ringing, nobody calling
our names, relaxing, etc.

Next Week for our RRS Website update we will have photos of this
trip posted. For now we have one shot
to prove that you can meet people even while you are in the middle
of nowhere. To see our new friends

MAD
MOUNTAIN MIKE and THE RED ELIXIR HIKE PHOTOS ARE POSTED |
MAD
MOUNTAIN MIKE and THE RED ELIXIR was a long time coming. Multiple
attempts combined each time
with a VETO from Mother Nature has
made this MMM Hike a curious sort but now it finally has reached
an end.
This Week, we post the fruits of this latest chapter in the MMM
Hiking Adventure. Schedule changes may have
dropped our party member numbers but those of us who were able
to make it had a great time. Don't forget for
some, this was a nostalgic journey as well, marking our 1987 &
1988 visits to this same area. Paul even popped
Jiffypop with a pair of gloves as a tribute to those earlier times.
Log into the photo section, then the
Mad Mountain Mike Adventures . . . read the captions as you look
at the photos and you'll get a pretty good
feeling for how this venture went for us. Or make the jump directly
to the page by [CLICKING

NOTE: During this MMM Hike, we were
aware of the USFS's 'Bigfoot Challenge' being promoted in their
latest
Electronic Newsletters. Common sense directives really, combined
with the New Food Storage Orders due to
the recent Bear encounters. Here's more from the most recent newsletter:
THE
BIGFOOT CHALLENGE - borrowing from the Leave No Trace Center
for Outdoor Ethics in Colorado,
we started a new column in the last newsletter challenging you
to follow Leave No Trace Principles.
This quarter, with the start of the busy season, we have two challenges:
1. Stick to trails and camp overnight
right - This reduces the total impact we have on the gorge.
2. Trash your trash and others too
- pick up and take out your own trash and that of careless others.
**The RRS took the challenge, we
are soon to receive some LNT Tags for our Packs and a mention
in the USFS's Final 2011 Electronic Newsletter. So we have that
going for us ... which is nice.

CANADIAN FISHING TRIP IS FRONT FOR COVERT OPERATION |
It
sounded all so innocent at first . . . a week-long fishing trip
held within the confines of our neighbor
to the North. So the story went, after the group met, then traveled
to Canada, they would then be
airlifted into a isolated Lake full of fish. Nothing but silence,
save the sound of the waves on water,
would surround them. Completely removed from civilization and
the noisy, illogical humans which
inhabit it . . . this 'Fish-a-Palooza' seemed Paradise for many.
But not so fast . . .
It has now been revealed that the RRS
CANADA trip is actually a front. A cover to operate under
while
the real purpose for their journey remains covert. Now it is time
for the world to know ... the group is
actually part of a spearhead team working to overthrow Canada.
Post operations call for the complete
annexation of the country into the United States (except for Quebec,
even Canada doesn't want them).
When Captain Ibanez was asked 'Why is it necessary to do this?'
he answered 'It's something to do,
cooler up North this time of year too. We really don't expect
much resistance anyway.'
OK, OK, so April Fools has already passed . . . we just wanted
to have a little fun after our stretch
of Spring Trips and photos. The trip to Canada remains the only
event scheduled before the 35th
Annual Venture in September. Great expectations are with this
vacation to Canada, those going
have been planning and looking forward to it for over one year.
There will be absolutely no
contact with them until they return ... with pictures of course,
which we will post for all to see.
Soon it will be time to move all the Canada Firering Conversations
into actually enjoying this trip!

35th ANNUAL TRIP GETS OFFICIAL NAME |
This
Week we drop the Hammer . . the release of the Official Trip Name
for our Annual September Venture.
As is custom, the Winner of our Famed Saturday Nite Game has,
in recent years, had the opportunity to
choose the Subtitle. 2010's Winner was Paul Napier and on that
very night he told us that he would be
including John Robertson in on the selection process. The pressure
was on beginning that night due to
this year being our 35th Annual Trip, an important achievement
to be sure.
At this time, we'd like to thank both guys for their consideration
over the last 9 months. They took the
task very seriously and worried about the outcome as it was their
wish not to disappoint. Now without
further delay we give you the 35th Annual, Week-Long Red River
Gorge Trip Official Title:
THE RED RIVER SAGA
THE LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER
September 11th - 18th, 2011
An early 35th Annual Teaser Desktop had already been offered [CLICK
HERE]. We wanted to
add to that since this is such a special year. This New Desktop
is NOT the Official Trip Logo, it
is
another Teaser image for your consideration . . . now placing
a picture with a name. Review the image
by choosing and clicking on your desktop resolution: 1024x768

Finally, there is RRS
CANADA Trip News. Captain John Ibanez has published several
documents which spell
out this event in detail. We wanted to post two of them to give
everyone an idea of what's going on.
Review the 'edited' version's released on Saturday, June 25th:
